Instructional videos allow students to personalize their learning through pace. In math, most often differentiation is needed to vary the pace at which each student learns a concept. This video allows students to work at their own pace, while being able to pause, rewind, and ask questions.
Combining the instructional video with a notesheet for each student allows students to actively participate in the lesson. This is still guided notes-- just at a pace each student can succeed at!
This year--plans changed! We have been full-time distance learning this entire school year. Students have access to devices, but no printers, workbooks, or notes packets. I utilize videos this year as a flipped classroom resource so students access their direct instruction before signing on for class.
One of my favorite personalized math sites is IXL. On asynchronous days, sometimes students need a little support getting started on an IXL strand for practice. This video allows students to review some concepts while learning about a new concept before giving it a try on their own!
